Listen is a ceramic sculpture composed of 10 terracotta primate ears. Five are human and five are other primates - a gorilla, a chimpanzee, a bonobo, a baby baboon and an orangutan - fired to various temperatures to get a variation in color. In an era when we seem to be deaf to the issues and concerns of others, Listen encourages all of us in the natural world who depend upon each other to hear each other's voices in the hope that the act of truly listening will promote respect, healthy societies and ecosystems and a more peaceful coexistence.
Listen was shown at the NCECA Annual: Social Recession exhibition at the Weston Gallery. It has been acquired by Cincinnati Music Hall.
